Location & Travel Information

Lambay is perfectly situated for easy access yet utter seclusion and privacy once you are here.  The island lies approximately 14 miles north of Dublin city centre but just three miles off the coast of County Dublin, near to the picturesque seaside town of Malahide.

For guests flying in from abroad, Lambay is a hop, skip and a jump away from Dublin International Airport.  A 15-20 minute taxi ride gets you to Malahide Marina, from where the island boats depart.

Sea crossing duration is between 15 and 30 minutes depending on which boat and the weather conditions.  Lambay can also be reached by helicopter or light aircraft for those who prefer air travel.

TRAVELLING FROM DUBLIN AIRPORT OR DUBLIN FERRY PORT

Private boat transfers to Lambay usually depart from Malahide, a picturesque seaside town situated north-east of Dublin Airport.  The journey to Malahide by road is approximately 15-20 minutes from Dublin Airport or 30 minutes from Dublin Ferry Port.  Taxis (including six seaters) are readily available from both the airport and the ferry port.  When returning to the airport or ferry port, we recommend the FREENOW app for local taxis.

MALAHIDE INFORMATION

Main Street is Malahide's high street; it has a good selection of useful shops - Boots, Gibney’s Wine Shop, Donnybrook Fair (specialty foods, wine, fresh produce, coffee shop, deli) and a SuperValu (the local supermarket).  There are also several good restaurants in the town including The Greedy Goose, Old Street Restaurant and Bon Appetit, which received a Michelin Star in 2015.  A cosy favourite for fresh and simple salads, soups and sandwiches is Déjà Vu on Old Street.

The Marina is at North end of Malahide and can be reached by taxi or on foot via the Marina Village.  It is a five minute walk from Donnybrook Fair, along the water's edge (paved and suitable for wheeled suitcases) and under the Geisha Restaurant arch. White's Laundry via GoogleMaps will guide you directly to the Marina entrance. P&D parking is available at the Marina and can be accessed via the parking app PARKPNP.

Please note the Marina is a private company and there are no public bathroom facilities.  Entry onto the premises is strictly forbidden unless you are accompanied by the Lambay boatmen.
